Organs can be permanently damaged if its cells are amitotic. They can be permanently damaged due to the lack of division in amitotic cells. Amitotic cells do not divide when they are mature. This means that if you were to injure yourself where there are amitotic cells, it will most likely be permanent or it will take a long time to heal. The spine is one area that has amitotic nerve cells so in many cases, when a person damages their spine they are permanently paralyzed. In conclusion, damaged amitotic cells are a big problem and often untreatable.
